SOFTWARE TEST AUTOMATION ENGINEER

 

We are looking to build a full, end-to-end software test automation system to drive the transformation from manual and limited test automation to automated software product testing built on a solid test infrastructure with comprehensive and efficient emulations and tool sets.  The software products under test range from standardized PLC control application, real time applications for high performance material handling equipment to HMI and ancillary applications.  As a member of the Controls Software Development Group, you will participate in test case design and execution, simulator interface definition, automation test tool and infrastructure development, analysis of test automation effectiveness and product design discussions.

 

Skills and Requirements

The successful candidate must have formal software testing experience within development teams. Additionally skills in the following areas are highly desired:

  • Strong familiarity with unit and integration testing.
  • Familiarity with test-driven development.
  • A good object oriented design concepts.
  • Experience with higher level programming language specifically C, C# or similar.
  • Experience with scripting languages applied to automated testing.
  • A good foundation in algorithms, design patterns, and data structures.
  • Strong experience in both manual and automated testing and the skills in leading the transformation to fully automated testing.
  • Familiarity with Scrum Agile software development.
  • Familiarity with version control and release management.
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills

 

Duties to include:

  • Generate and/or review test requirements and release test strategy.
  • Carry out software testing
  • Generate test reports.
  • Define requirements for test support tools such as emulation.
  • Identify methods to automate software verification.
  • Translate high level requirements into specific software requirements
  • Generate design documentation
  • Develop software as it relates to testing
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness and utility of the tests created.
  • Participate as a member of a Scrum team
  • Work with cross-functional teams to release software products

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of software testing experience
  • Willingness to travel 5% - 10%
